So It Wasn't Exactly Bollywood

At least not yet anyway. I tried to make it to Bollywood but only ended up on the balcony of the hostel with the other girls here on our way to WATCH an Indian solo dance performance instead of BE in one. Guess something got lost in translation. So to make the best of things, we smiled for the paparazzi we found in the hallway consisting of other Indian students and gladly went ahead with our photo shoot. And like the red carpet, there were too many cameras going off at once to know which one to look at so we would be coordinated. Unlike the red carpet, I am not 6 feet tall and walked on the bottom of my sari instead of a red velvet path.

This is Jyoti, shes a firecracker and for sure calls shots. Not alcoholic ones though since we cant drink here but shots in the sense that Im sure people are scared of her, in a good way of course. But she is an A+ in my book and helped me get the sari on. Left to myself, I wouldn't have made it out of my room looking presentable and clothed for Indian standards. Shes a pro and it only took 3 pins to keep it on all night. Personally, Im convinced we got an extra to make sure us Americans wouldn't get to scandy for the country. As if!

Also, Spence, I learned something today. A bindi is a real thing that is NOT a derogatory reference to India as you have so often used in conversation (my apologies for calling you out). It is a sticker they put on their forehead in between their eyes kind of. You know what I mean though. And yes, I did wear one. They make male versions too (take a wild guess at what your souvenir present will be)!!

So for the rest of my trip I will be perfecting the art of sari dressing and attempting to improve my Indian dance skillz for a shot at a big break in India.

Ps. They have domino's here. Like the pizza. Like AMAZING, oh and garlic bread. And for less than the 555 deal at home for more food. BE JEALOUS.

  3. The Bollywood movies/music video always have a guy chasing a woman around a tree. Interesting dance routine. Check out the Indian movie "3 Idiots", very funny. Famous movie in India.

Mysore is famous for the angry elephants. Watch out for those rampaging animals in the street.
