Flashing Lights and Flames

Coming home from work last night, I miraculously stumbled upon a party. I got off the bus and was confused. All I could think of is Hmm, What is this? Then, just like an insect, I got sucked into the flashing lights and pretty colors of the night time. Also, I thought what a coincidence, I just happen to have my camera on me too! So snapping away I went to get this perfect picture:

Its perfect because the lights were flashing on and off and I had to magically time when to press the capture button to get this shot. Id say after 49 tries, I was finally successful. What I could gather from a lady selling a string of flowers on the street was that it was a god's day of celebration. I also used my ivy league deductive skills and counted the hundred(s) of people lined up and pushing to get into the temple.

Once I tore myself away from the pretty colors, I got back to the hostel and found out a bunch of people were going out. YES! is what then shot through my mind. 6 weeks of sobriety and lack of places to go made me giddy to actually go out somewhere with people who spoke my language. Of course, since this is India, the bunch of us who went were the only people in the place. Aside from the one table of Infosys people.

In India they have this to drink:

Behold the Super Strong Beer!

Or, you could just get a flaming shot:

Call the firemen, the waterfall of cups are on FIRE!

Mom & Dad, be proud to know that the shot was not for me since I have lost me tolerance to alcohol this summer. (Friends, get excited to pitchers of sangria when Im home, I have some summer enjoyment to catching up to do). I stuck with the beer and was reminded of the wonders of going out. And for that, I say Hello World!

  2. Om shanti Chelsea!

Taste any Kingfisher? I don't think that beer is as strong! I, too have no tolerance to alcohol but I don't mind that at all :). I am sure the enlightenment you have gained from your experience in India has trumped hanging out in Queens all summer...I will stop by and help mom and dad make a non-sulfite organic fruit sangria that will leave you begging for more!

    Namaste,
    Alyce
