Yes, the title of this post is a reference to MK&A. I miss the 90s dont you, especially the VH1 specials devoted to the decades. But anyway last weekend I was in London and it was amazing to finally be in a real city again. It was a far cry from tiny Geneva and somewhat of a comfort to be around masses of people again. Granted it is nowhere close to New York, where people know how to walk and bagels and pizza by the slice are plentiful and amazing.
With only 2 real days in London, I was able to get a feel for the city and the culture it has to offer. I started off heading to the Saatchi gallery. This man has way too much money, but the fact that he uses it to buy art and let people look at it for free makes it a little better. This is one of the exhibits.

It took me a while to realize what it is-a room with the floor covered in oil. Once I read the wall text, I could smell the petroleum it was insane. There was one cut out that indented so you could see how deep it is and I was amazed. Like seriously, who buys thats?? Saatchi does, and made me think I should have stayed in advertising.
The next day I went to Borough market and my mouth was watering the entire time. If I was studying in London for the semester I would come back obese. Not kidding in the least bit. They had ostrich sausage, the best hot chocolate, fresh oysters, amazing grilled cheese, venison burgers with blue cheese, fresh other meat that i can even remember that I wasnt patient enough to wait on line for that looked amazing and will need to get when I have a chance to get to london again. It was incredible.
In the whirlwind of London, I really missed New York and realized how much of a city person I am. However Im looking forward to going back to London one day and actually taking the time to sightsee a little, go to more of the museums and galleries there and really see London more fully. And maybe for the next time I go, Ill watch the Mary Kate and Ashley movie for inspiration and nostalgia for my childhood.
