Working at the ILO

Ive officially started my internship for a UN agency--legit with my own badge--and survived my first two weeks. Granted they weren't full work weeks, Id say its still an accomplishment. If i was thinking, I would have taken a picture as I left Helen's (the other girl intern from Cornell) apartment (at this point I hadn't move in yet) just like my first days of school from kindergarten to 6th grade.

The first day was a little overwhelming. I wasnt sure what to expect and kind of just showed up. Little did I know that my department was in crunch time trying to finish the first draft of the report they had been working on. So for the past 2 weeks Ive been reading the 150 page report. Oh what fun! The only upside is that lunch is 2 hours and coffee breaks are encouraged. Oh and use of the nap room. Yes, nap room.

I can see why people want to work here, but I think it might be a little different when you aren't an intern. There are two other interns (Shane and Marianna, really nice) who share the office with me which is nice to have somebody to talk to throughout the day. If only I had a better view!
