The city itself wasnt as charming as I thought it would be. The architecture was gorgeous-dont get me wrong, but the contrast of having a mountain backdrop and lake clearly defined the Milan from Geneva. It was overwhelming being there at first. The taxi drivers are crazy and the streets are circular so it was a little tricky walking around.
Of course I went to all the must see tourist sites: the Duomo, Galleria, Cemetery, you get the idea. My favorite part was stumbling across a weekend market alongside the canals and just being able to look at what people were selling and having a good gelato. The pizza was good too but I dont think I can give up a good old slice just yet or ever for that matter.
The streets were dead in comparison to New York once we finished dinner. Meals take at least an hour and a half eating at a restaurant and was quite annoying at first being used to the waiters rushing to get you everything. But all said and done, it was a nice time being in the city where my dad was born.
